It started with a question – Can we create fun, holiday characters that stop people on the street, make them smile, and bring attention to the business? My idea was to paint funny holiday characters on the windows, to spread a little cheer. Advertising is a game of eyes, and the more people you can positively attract - the better!
Over the holiday season, I wanted to give back to a local community. The idea was to create simple, lighthearted characters that made people smile as they walked past. Since the cannabis industry has a fairly large stigma surrounding it, I though to reach out to a few retailers. British Columbia had recently passed a law which allowed cannabis retailers to remove frosted glass from their storefront windows. By drawing the holiday characters on the glass, I hoped to create a more family-friendly and approachable look to the storefront. Burb Cannabis was kind enough to lend their Port Moody location for the mural. Throughout the month of December, many people engaged with the mural by either having their picture taken in front, or commenting to the staff inside. Win-win!
